Fine In Spite of Grace Period
- Article Type: General
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 18.01
Description:
Why did patron ABC00006108 receive the fine of $0.75 in spite of the grace period? This patron returned an item AFTER the Library was closed for two weeks' Christmas break. Aleph correctly calculated the item to be 3 days overdue based on:
actual due date: 12/16/09
library still open 12/17/09 and 12/18/09
library closed 12/19/09 through 01/03/10
item returned 01/04/10 (3 days late)
Aleph accounted for open/closed days correctly, but did not credit the grace period. I have reviewed KB 16384-19953 but its resolution does not match this problem. Following are more details.

Resolution:
You have specified "D", an Open Days method of fine calculation, but as noted in KB 3915: "Even if you specify an "open-days" method, closed days are still counted against the grace-period days."
