    Description:
We are a multi-ADM site. When I try performing searches in the Circulation client in a specific library, such as Blue Broker State University, I get the following message: "Failed to read reply".

    This is my \ALEPHCOM\tab\searbase.dat:

    Blue Broker State Univ. BBS50 SYS01 0

    Resolution:
Column 2 of searbase.dat is a base. The bases are defined in $alephe_tab/tab_base.eng. The tab_base.eng has these lines:

    BBS50 Blue Broker State U. BBS50 N
    ...
    BBS Blue Broker State U. BBS SYS01 Y own=bbs

"BBS50" is an ADM entry (by virtue of the fact that the library in column 7 is an ADM library). ADM entries are used in producing the borrower library displays in the OPAC. See KB 5580. They can *not* be used as actual searchable bases.

The searbase.dat entry should have "BBS" as the base:

Blue Broker State Univ. BBS SYS01 0
