How do we add all course numbers to brief record in course reserves union OPAC?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
When we perform a search in course reserves, a title that is on reserve for more than one course appears in the brief record list. Only one course number and name appears. This causes a student confusion if the course he is looking for is not listed.

When you click on the Full record, then you can see all the courses that the title is on reserve for. However, many students will not click to retrieve the full record if they do not see their course number in the brief record.

In the Version 19 System Librarian’s guide , section 10.2.6 (page 21), it says that five CNO fields have been configured to use with the union view and will produce multiple course information fields on the brief record. I can make CNO-2 and CNO-8 work, but I really want CNO-10. But when I add CNO-10 to www_tab_short.eng, it only outputs the course name, not all three course fields - number, name and instructor.
How can I make CNO-10 work?

    Resolution:
I find that with the following line in www_tab_short.eng:

    7 L Course #/name/instrc 00 00 0100 D ## CNO10

and the following entry in edit_field.eng:

    1 # CNO#0 D
    2 a ^^
    2 b ^^
    2 c ^^

all courses which the doc is connected to display in the Brief List.
