    Question

How is item information displayed via the z39.50 server?

    Answer

In $alephe_tab/z39_server/z39_server_xxx01.conf add the following line:

    out-record-expand Z39_SERVER

    In xxx01/tab/tab_expand add:

    Z39_SERVER expand_doc_bib_z30
    Z39_SERVER expand_doc_bib_tab04
    • expand_doc_bib_z30 adds information from items (z30 records) to field z30 in BIB record
    • expand_doc_bib_tab04 calls table tab04, which converts alphanumeric field codes into numeric field codes as alphanumeric field codes are not allowed in z39.50 protocol.

    In xxx01/tab/tab04 add:

    90 Z30## 930## N

Item information is moved to field 930 which is then displayed when searching via z39.50. (930 is of course only an example, you may choose any other numeric field code.)
