    Description:
When I do a search in the GUI and then get the list and click "show" I get the records. There is no column for "place". How can I add a column for "place" and how can I then have "place" added as a "sort" option after clicking the "sort" button?

    Resolution:
To add the column "place" and have it display 260##$$a add the following line to $data_tab/pc_tab_short.eng
    00 Place 2 260##a 015 03 C03

$data_tab/pc_tab_short.eng controls the Display of the 'Brief format' of a record in the Search function.
Make sure you put the column number in col. 3 of the table and the proper width of the column in col. 9 of the table.
The total width percentage should be 100 and no two columns should have the same column number in col. 3.
Above "Place" is column 2, thus it appears as the second column (from the left).

To add "Place" as a sort option first add it to $data_tab/pc_tab_sear.eng with SO in first column. SO is for "sort" (see table header for more info).
It may be added as follows:
    SO USM01 L Place 07

In this case, it uses identifier 07 from tab_sort. Place might be added to tab_sort as follows:
    07 11 260## a 00 00

After adding a new sort option you must run manage_27
services > build indexes to the catalog > Update sort index manage-27
