Implement the Authorities Categories Mechanism?
Procedure
The "Systems Librarian's Guide - Authorities" explains in detail the required configuration.
To implement the new "categories mechanism" feature:
1) Configure tab_acc_category in XXX01/tab
2) Configure tab_acc_category in XXX10/tab
Note: The suggested configuration as shown in the System Librarian Guide – Authorities is exactly correct and can be copied as documented. The Ex Libris Documentation Center > Aleph > Support > How To from Support by subject > Indexing_filing_and_expand_procedures > "How to run index jobs" has info on index job parameters.
3) Run “Update Headings Index (manage-02)” on XXX10 (selecting the "Rebuild entire headings index" option)
4) Run “Alphabetize Long Headings (manage-17)” on XXX10
5) Run “Pre-Enrich Bibliographic Headings Based on the Authority Database (manage-102)” on XXX01*
6) Run “Update Headings Index (manage-02)” on XXX01 (selecting the "Update headings index" option)
7) Run “Alphabetize Long Headings (manage-17)” on XXX01
8) Run “Build Counters for Logical Bases (manage-32)” on XXX01
* You could omit the “Pre-Enrich Bibliographic Headings Based on the Authority Database (manage-102)” and run a complete ue_08 in the XXX01 to relink bibs and authorities (after the “Update Headings Index (manage-02)” runs are done).
If you have z103 Broader-Term / Narrower-Term 5xx relationships in the Authority library, then you may need to add some lines to the xxx10/tab/tab_acc_category file and rerun “Create Links Between Records (manage-12)” in xxx10 {see Article 000042895 ("Settings for tab_acc_category in the Bib & Authority libraries) }.
You *may* also want to change the "UPD $$aN" flag on certain authority records to "UPD $$aY", so that -- now that you have solved the problem with ambiguous headings -- changes made to Authority records can generate automatic changes to the fields in associated BIB records.
