    Question

Is it possible to use the file-08 service to replace the comma character in one field of the input records using the function REPLACE-STRING defined in xxx01/tab/import/generic_fix table?

    Example:

This a field that contains a comma:
    702 1 L $$aKubrick,$$bStanley

    It should become:
    702 1 L $$aKubrick$$bStanley

    Answer

It used to be that, since the comma is used as a separator in a file-08 script, it could not be used as a character in a text string, but with v https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/@api/deki/files/46041/New_replace_string_parameter_for_fix_doc_do_file_08_V21_rep_ver_017548.pptx?draft=true21 (rep_ver 17548) the comma *can* be used as a character in a text string.
