Incorrect Number for WellKnownSystem identifier in outgoing ILL Request messages

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

In the ILL Request message (APDU) being sent by Aleph, the OCLC number is being sent to help idetnify the title being requested. However the System identifier describing the kind of number being sent is coded with a number “3”, which indicates the number is a Canadiana number. The coded number should be “4”, indicating that the number being sent is the OCLC number. (For a detailed description of the Well-Known System Number process used in ILL communications, see Knowledge Article “Well-Known System Numbers in the ILL APDU”)

    Resolution

The coding of Well-Known System numbers is configured in the Aleph table xxx40/tab/tab_ill_bib_key. The erroneous identifier “3” (instead of “4”) is occurring because of an error in tab_ill_bib_key:

    !!-!!!!!!!!!!-!!!!!-!!!!!-!-!!-!!!!!-!-!!
    01 LC NBN 010 a 010 r
    03 OCLC SYSNO 035 a 21 035 b
    !09 ALEPH_SYS SYSNO SID c SID b

Change column one on the line for OCLC from 03 to 04:

    !!-!!!!!!!!!!-!!!!!-!!!!!-!-!!-!!!!!-!-!!
    01 LC NBN 010 a 010 r
    04 OCLC SYSNO 035 a 21 035 b
    !09 ALEPH_SYS SYSNO SID c SID b
