Indexing Failure -- "No space left on device"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We attempted to index words (p_manage_01) yesterday. There were lots of errors of this type --

sort: write failed: /exlibris/aleph/u18_1/abc01/scratch/manage_01_7.1: No space left on device

Here is the report from df -k:

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol03
    20158332 3108072 16026260 17% /

    247709760 147128696 87998152 63% /backup

    Resolution:
I have increased the /exlibris space available from 4.5 Gig to 7.3 Gig (primarily by deleting unneeded files from /exlibris/ftp_from_exlibris). (The existing manage_01 files are taking 18 Gig.)

You can either restart just the p_manage_01_e step -- as described in the Restart section of the "Troubleshooting" chapter (9) of the "How To Run Index Jobs". Or you can, of course, run the job from the start.
