Question
Is it possible to retain fields from a record (Z00, Z00H, Z13) when a record is deleted?
Answer
Unfortunately this is not possible. The GUI Cataloging "Total Delete" (CTRL+R) calls delete_bib_total. It removes the Word, Browse, and other index entries. It leaves a "stub" z00 doc record (FMT, LDR, DEL, and CAT fields), a z13 with null fields, z00r records with the same fields as those in the stub z00, and the z106 (CAT) records (created when tab100 CREATE-106-Y).
Rather than deleting the record you could add an STA $$aDeleted field to the record. Records with "STA $$aDeleted" fields are de-indexed in exactly the same fashion as a DELeted record, but retain all of the fields the record had before the addition of "STA $$aDeleted".
