Is there a way to add a transaction confirmation message when Fast Circ is used?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
Is there a way to add a transaction confirmation message when Fast Circ is used? We had a message in v15, and our staff is confused about whether or not circ transactions actually go through since it is no longer present.

    Resolution:
There is no table or setting change which will cause the Fast Circulation to behave differently. That would be an enhancement request.

If you don't get an error message, that means that the loan (/return) has gone through OK.

I am including below the description of Fast Circulation from the GUI CIRC Help:

Fast Circulation is a quick way to perform the Loan and Return circulation transactions. It is used most often by distant branches with poor communication lines, or by book buses that are connected to the main library via modem.

The Fast Circulation window gives you the option to perform a loan or a return on one screen. The item's bibliographic information and the patron details are not shown and so the transactions are created more quickly. This is also why there is no connection to the patron list or the ability to search for items. There is also no presentation of the loan details or the return date.

The same checks that are performed in the usual Loan and Return windows, are also performed when using the Fast Circulation option.
