    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 21, 22, 23

    Question:

    What is the use of the Item Statistics field and which report uses it?

    Answer:

    The field z30_item_statistics can be used to enter statistical information (up to 10 characters), such as department or collection information.

    The structure of the field is determined by the configuration in GUI file .\alephcom\tab\alephcom.ini

    ;
    ; 1 - Simple edit (default)
    ; 2 - Regular (pc_tab_exp_field)
    ; 3 - Special form (4 part statistic field)
    ;
    ItemStatisticField=2
    SerialItemStatisticField=3
    ItemStatisticDelimiter=/

    Aleph uses this information in the p-ret-adm-01 report for retrieving only. All other statistical reports do not use this field.

    Additional Information

    To make the field mandatory, set switch ITEM-FORM-STATISTIC to 'Y' in ./xxx50/tab/tab100

    !# ITEM-FORM-STATISTIC
    !# Values:Y N  Default: N
    !# Type: Text;    Max Length: 01
    !# tab100 of library: Yes;  tab100_<server_type>: No.
    !
    !    N = The item's statistic field (Z30-ITEM-STATISTIC) is not a mandatory field.
    !        Item record can be saved with null in the Statistic field
    !
    !    Y = The item's Statistic is a mandatory field.
    !        If the Statistic field is left blank when an item record is saved, a message
    !        will be displayed forcing the user to populate the Statistic field.
    !

    Additional information about the field can be found in the Aleph System Librarians Guide - Items (Version 23): Aleph 23 Syslib Guide - Items.pdf
