    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
In version 18, after a weekly shutdown of ALEPH and Oracle, the keyword indexes are not working. For example, a Keywords Anywhere search for "horse" yields no results, but takes the user to a list starting with "hoxie." The problem is evident in both the Web OPAC and the GUI Search.

Restarting ALEPH and Oracle corrected the problem, but in some cases it would take several restarts, and in at least one instance, even ten restarts did not correct the problem.

    Resolution:
Doing UTIL A / 9 ("Delete Statistics for Analyzed Tables / Indexes") corrected the problem. (This operation takes between 1 and 5 minutes, depending on the size of the database.)

See KB 8192-3980 for complete information on this solution.
