Library's host not defined in library.ini." **MASTER RECORD**

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
When you try to start up a GUI module, you get the message "Communication error (global-11) Library's host not defined in library.ini".

    Resolution:
This message indicates that the GUI client tried to connect to the first library specified in the pc's \ALEPHCOM\TAB\PER_LIB.INI file, but there is no entry for that library in the .\ALEPHCOM\TAB\LIBRARY.INI file.  (Or, if you clicked on "ALEPH" at the upper left and then "Connect" from the dropdown, whatever library you clicked on.)

    Example:

In your .\CIRC\TAB\PER_LIB.INI you have "EXU50" as the first line. But there's no entry for EXU50 in the .\ALEPHCOM\TAB\LIBRARY.INI.

If you click on ALEPH --> Connect to, you may see that the library you want to connect to is there (just not the first one) and you may be able to connect to it.
If not, then *it* needs to be added to the relevant *.INI file.

Note: If you see that there *is* a line in library.ini with the library you want to connect to as the value in column 1, make sure that the *third* column also has this library's code:

    USM01 - USMARC Bibliographic   USM01 il-aleph02:6991

If you get the message in doing Version Check, consult article "“Library’s host not defined in library.ini” on GUI Version Check" (KB 16384-451).
