Library is able to loan item with item process status not for loan

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph

    Problem Symptoms:
Library is able to loan items to a patron with item process status which are not for loan even though in tab15.lng the items are defined as not for loan and in tab_check_circ the correct checks are defined.

[tab100 has LOST-PROC-STATUS=MI. It removes the status when item is loaned. But in tab15, I set "no loan" for status MI, and the item can still be loaned.

It's ok that LOST-PROC-STATUS removes the status, but should the loan still be prevented with tab15 ?

    Cause:
Process status is defined in ./xxx50/tab/tab100 LOST-PROC-STATUS. The removal of the process-status precedes the loan. Once the process-status is removed, then the loan occurs.

    Resolution:
In ./xxx50/tab/tab100 remove the process status which is not to be automatically loaned from the LOST-PROC-STATUS list.

    Additional Information

The item would eventually be loaned to the patron, but the operator needs to do something first.

If that is the case, there should be no LOST-PROC-STATUS=MI. When a patron tries to check out this item, since tab15 is set to "no loan" the operator will receive a message about the loan being prevented. Then they can: do whatever they need to do, remove the "MI" from the item, and check the book out.
