    GUI Circ client stops displaying item information on particular PC

    Description

       Several times in the past week the circ client on a particular workstation has gotten into a state where it appears to be working, but none of the customary data is displayed on the screen. This happens in the Items tab, when an item barcode is scanned for lookup, but not necessarily on return or loan.
       Normally, if a barcode is scanned, data about the item populates the panes of the client, but in the error condition no data is displayed. The client gives an audible signal and displays the barcode that was scanned. but no item data is displayed. 

       The problem happens with different logins on this particular workstation.  And we have found no difference in software levels ("GUI version") or configurations between this machine/client and a second, working, circ machine. 
       Exiting the client and logging back in does not clear the condition. 

     

    Resolution

    The site found that copying the the c:\aleph directory from a functioning workstation to the one that was failing corrected the problem.
