Description:
We’d like to make Call Number a mandatory field on the GUI item creation screen. Is there a way to do that with the xxx50/tab/pc_tab_circ_fast_cat.eng table? It only allows five spaces for the field label, so it looks like it’s only intended to affect MARC records rather than the actual item record.

Resolution:
As you suggest, the fields specified in pc_tab_circ_fast_cat are BIB/ADM doc fields only.

The required z30 fields (sublibrary, item status, and material type) are hard-coded in the check_z30 program. There is no ability to require other item fields.
