    1. Additional Information
    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 21

    Problem Symptoms:
    The Chinese title '?›½?™…?»??µŽ?¦.' isn't displayed correctly in the AJ field of the 18 message:

    e.g. [log] OUT 1803000120131119 115203AB3989037-10|AJ\56FD\9645\7ECF\6D4E\5B66.|

    Cause:
    There is a character conversion in SIP2 configuration tab_sip2.conf.
    [CHAR-CONV]
    input = 8859_1_TO_UTF
    output = UTF_TO_8859_1

    Resolution:
    If the SIP2 Client also understands character code UTF the entries for input and output in tab_sip2.conf could be deleted.
    Then the data will be transferred in UTF without character conversion.

    Additional Information

    When doing this with example ?›½?™…?»??µŽ?¦ the logfile looks different for AJ field: |AJ?¥?©?§?»?¦?µ?¥?¬ Your Unix emulation might not be able to display UTF, therefore you will need to check the display in the Selfcheck Client.
