    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Desired Outcome Goal:

We would like to stop and start Oracle archiving because of a load of a large number of catalogue records

    Procedure:

    1. Oracle archiving switch-off could be done using util o/7/2 ("Turning Archiving Off")

Then the shutdown of Aleph; the update of the Oracle parameter; and restart of Aleph will be done automatically.

    2. The Oracle archiving switch-on could be done using util o/7/1 ("Turning Archiving On").

For both actions, the ALEPH_DBA password is required.

    Additional Information

Note:  We advise turning off Archiving only if the number of records being loaded is greater than 200,000 (-- and batch indexing Services will be run rather than letting ue_01 do the indexing).

See also:  How to enable/disable Oracle archiving in TWO_TASK , which describes native Oracle commands for doing this.
