    Order purge

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:
We used to do order purge once a year to clean up some old orders.

    1. Is this still necessary?  What impact would it have if we don't do it?

    2. If we decide to do it using a SQL statement as we did before, is there any job that'll need to be run? According to our record, we used to run acq-04 after the purge.

    Resolution:
The current versions of Aleph are no different than earlier versions in regard to its handling of order records: they don't purge old order records.

Order records can be connected to invoice and budget records via the z601 (encumbrance/invoice transaction) records. You need to make certain that any invoice and budget records these orders are linked to are obsolete.

You will definitely need to run the acq-04 ("Rebuild Acquisitions Order Index") after any such SQL delete.

Note: you should, of course, back up the z68 table with file-03 first.
