Parallel indexing in abc04 not showing synonyms

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
I ran p_manage_01 in parallel library abc04. I tested it this AM with http://...:8991/F/?func=find-e-0&local_base=fcl04.

My synonym searches aren't getting the results I expected.

    keyword anywhere "first" = 239907 but "1st" = 292277
    " "theater" = 26561 but "theatre" = 25808
    " "behavior" = 31839 but "behaviour" = 3560
    Later:

I found that not only are the synonyms not working but, in fact, the ABC04 Words are not being used at all -- even though I am specifying "&local_base=abc04" in my search.

    Resolution:
This is due to the fact that tab_base.eng has this line:

    ABC04 2nd parallel lib ABC01 ABC01 N

Since column 7 has "ABC01", it never looks at the ABC04 library, but instead goes to ABC01 (which has an LS to ABC03).

When you have built the Words in the parallel library and you specify the parallel library (ABC04) in column 7, then you should get a good test of Word searching but, if you have not built the Headings, a Browse in the parallel library will not work. You can just ignore this or you can take the steps described in Appendix A: Optional Steps for the “Check New Index” Testing of the Parallel Indexing document.
