    Question

What job is used to split the patron name into last-name and first-name (z303_last_name and z303_first_name) in Aleph 22? Is it required? How does the file-20 (PLIF patron loader) work?

    Answer

The job is com-04. The PATRON?NAME?FORMAT in $alephe_tab/tab100 is relevant.

Doing the split and using the PATRON?NAME?FORMAT is optional. If PATRON?NAME?FORMAT is not specified, then file-20 populates just the z303_name only (not the z303_last_name or z303_first_name), just as before v22.
