    Description:
How do I place a password on the Oracle Listener (TNSLSNTR set with no password on version 16.02)?

    Resolution:
Open the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora file and locate the name of your listener.

For instance my listener has the default name LISTENER. I can see this in the following lines:
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =

It is the line starting LISTENER= . Simply add a line to this file with the following format:
    PASSWORDS_{LISTENER_NAME}=somesecretpassword

    Additional Information

    Oracle Listener, TNSLSNTR, passowrd
