Print Daemon only printing one job per cycle; print output from different jobs interfiled

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

One of our circulation points uses the print daemon to print out notices. The print daemon is set to poll ALEPH every 30 secs. It appears that if there are two separate jobs that have been produced within those 3 seconds, the print daemon retrieves them, it appears in the PD log as if the are printed, but the first jobs never appears in the printer.

Also, if we send multiple jobs all at once, they end up coming out the printer inter-filed. This is problematic when they are basically the same job (like pull-slips) but we have have separate runs for separate locations. We end up having to sort them by hand for location which defeats the purpose of separating the runs.

    Resolution

Put additional time between jobs (in the job_list) as a way of not having the reports inter-file during printing. Also, if there is a intermittent problem with multiple jobs in the same print daemon cycle, this should avoid that.
