Problem Z13 User Defined 4 (010 field) blank for online journals

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
Last week I added the following line to abc50/tab22:
    USER-DEF-4 1 010## o

This morning (2/15, at 1:43) I ran p_manage_07 (Fixed param: ABC50,1,000000000, 999999999,09,1,). Most of the z13 records now have a USER-DEFINED-4 field with the 010 subfield o content; however, this field did not transfer for most of our online journals.

    For example, Z13_REC_KEY 000481740--Israel journal of mathematics--has Z13_USER_DEFINED_4 = 01644326. The actual 010 for 000481740 is 010 |a he66000462 |o 01644326.
The Z13_USER_DEFINED_4 field is blank for Z13_REC_KEY 001493049--Israel journal of mathematics (Online). The actual 010 for 001493049 is 010 |o ssj0053713

How do I get all 010 |o fields to transfer to the Z13?

    Resolution:
    util f/3/12 shows this:

    ENTER HOME LIBRARY : abc01
    ENTER DOC-NUMBER : 001447864
    END

This indicates that this bib record is not linked to any abc50 ADM record. Therefore, the run of p_manage_07 in abc50 will never find any ADM record to which this bib info could be expanded.

The z13 in the bib library *will* and *does* include these records.

In order to build a z13 in the abc50 which includes these records, the abc01 bib will need to be created with an ADM record. But let's just think for a second....

The reason that you are creating this z13 in abc50 is to get author/title/lccn, etc., for items, orders, etc., you are retrieving with SQL. The Aleph programs *never* use the xxx50 z13; it's only your SQL, right? (Many sites have no xxx50 z13.)
