Re-loaning limit applies to specific item only, not to like items

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We have tab15, column 11, for Laptop loan (Item status : 10) set to "N", so that the request will *not* be for the specific item, but for all "like copies". And we have a value of 3 hours in col. 15 to delay the re-loaning of the Laptop for that length of time.

We have removed everything from the z30_enumeration_n (and z30_chronological_n ) fields.

If a patron returns a laptop, he cannot reloan the same one, but he can loan an other copy! We want to apply this 3 hours delay to every copy. What is missing?

    Resolution:
The tab15.eng header has the following for column 15: "The value denotes the number of hours during which the same copy of an item cannot be reloaned or rebooked to the same patron ..."

You will note "the *same* copy". The ./com/calc_back_to_back_time program which enforces this reloan-ing limit looks only at the individual item; it does not look at loans which have occurred for other like items.

(The way in which tab15, column 11, *is* used is in the case of hold requests: to decide if a particular hold request applies to a particular item.)

Note: The site has submitted this as an Enhancement Request.
