    Question

Is the "status" one sees in the client and the OPAC of "Reshelving" or "Recently Returned" actually stored in an Oracle table (and thus query-able) or is it just calculated on-the-fly by Aleph?

    Answer

It's calculated on the fly. To determine whether an item is in “Reshelving” status / “Recently returned”, Aleph takes the current time minus the time the item was returned {in the z36h ("Loan history") and/or the z35 ("Events") } and compares the result with the Reshelving Time in the ADM library tab14.

    Additional Information

See also KB 16384-5170 ("Return of item does not trigger a 'Reshelving' status in OPAC").
