    Description:
Is there a check that will allow a hold request to be placed on an item only if the item is unavailable? I need to prevent patrons who are normally able to request available items from requesting selected available items, the items are identifiable by their item processing status.

    Resolution:
    tab15.eng, col. 8, says:

! Y - item can be requested. In addition, item availability
! is checked when a hold request is placed.
! If a copy is available, and the patron does not have permission
! for requesting an available item, a message displays.

But if the patron *does* have permission to request an available item (Z305-HOLD-ON-SHELF = Y), the patron can do it for *all* item statuses (except, of course, those with "N" in tab15.eng, col. 8, indicating that they are never requestable).

[Note: site plans to pursue an additional tab15.eng, col. 8, value -- which would be the same as "Y", except not overrideable by a Z305-HOLD-ON-SHELF -- as an enhancement request.]
