    Question

Is there any way to make requested items be sent to Primo as *Un*available?

    * Items which are on hold (either in closed stacks or on loan but not yet returned) have a hold status of "A" (since they have not yet been placed on the hold shelf).

    * It is misleading to tell the patron seeking such an item that it is "Available" since that patron is not going to be able to get it until the other patron has had their turn.

    Answer

There is no provision in Aleph for this. This would be an enhancement request.
