    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 21

    Description

    Is there step-by-step documentation on how to set up encrypted communication between Aleph GUI and server?

    Resolution

    1. Aleph server:
    In $alephe_tab/tab_version, add line:

    ! 1 2 3 4 5 6
    !!!!!!-!!!!!-!-!-!!!!!!!!-!!!!!!!!!!
    21.01E ALEPH Y 2 12345678

    2. Restart PC server

    3. GUI: add file to GUI tree:
    C:\AL500\alephcom\TAB\DES_KEY.DAT

    File contains key from column 5 of $alephe_tab/tab_version above

    4. Change in alephcom.ini:
    [Main]
    Encryption=2
    Version=21.01E

    5. restart GUI

    Additional Information

    Notes: The encryption is for both ways: Client->Server and Server->Client. This function was introduced in June 2001 in Aleph 15 with rep_ver #003300.

    The following encryptions can be used:

    See col. 4 Encryption of $alephe_tab/tab_version
    0 - none
    1 - ALEPH
    2 - DES
    3 - Kerberos
    4 - LDAP (Authentication only);
    5 - Aleph Encryption and LDAP Authentication;
