    Setting last-doc-number higher after killing batch bib-load

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    After killing a batch bib-load (because of an error in the submission parameters), the xxx01 last-doc-number (in util/g/2) has not been updated to the system number of the last bib record actually loaded. Is there any problem with manually updating this counter (with util g/2) to the correct value?

    No, that is what should be done. There is never any problem with setting the bib last-doc-number higher. {Within limits, see Article 000009865 ("Increasing bib library last-doc-number").}

    The following SQL can be used to get the current highest doc number:

    SQL> select max (z00_doc_number) from z00;

    Additional Information

    As described in Article 000007035 ("Automatic resetting of last-doc-number by system"), there *can* be problems with setting it lower.
