    Size of z00p table

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Question

util/a/17/11/2 shows the following for the z00p ["ALEPH Published Documents"]:

    BYTES/1024 BLOCKS EXTENTS INITIAL_EXTENT NEXT_EXTENT
    ---------- ---------- ---------- -------------- -----------
    1007616 125952 18 1027604480 8192

    COUNT(*)
    ----------
    2389333

The first figure (1007616) seems to be the total size of xxx50.z00p. But it's unclear just what unit this is. How many gigabytes does this figure represent?

    Answer

The value in the first column is in Kilobytes. 1,007,616 KB = about 1 GB.

Note:  When you do util a/17/11/2 for the z00p, all you see is the SEGMENT NAME "Z00P TABLE".  You need to do "util a/17/11/1" and page down in the output to the "Z00P_SEGNAME LOBSEGMENT".  The Z00P_SEGNAME is typically 50 times as large as the Z00P TABLE.

    Additional Information

The article "Upgrade Express: export of z00p takes 11 hours -- and 50 times the space" (KB 16384-48242) describes some issues with the export of this table.
