Sort Order of 5XX, 6XX, 7XX, 8XX Fields in catalog record

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
6XX fields are not sorted properly when using function "Sort record" or "Save on server" in the Cataloging module.
For example, field 675 comes before field 610.
Clicking on edit and sort record, does not sort fields according to their order in tab01.lng.

    Cause:
    Normal system behavior

    Resolution:
Field blocks 5xx, 6xx and 7xx and 8xxx are not sorted within the block.

    Additional Information

    * In general, field tags are sorted according to their order in tab01.lng.
    * But, before sorting, if the tab100 MARC-TYPE is "1" (that is, USMARC/MARC21), it makes adjustments to treat certain tags as "generic tags". A "generic tag" is a tag which belongs to a group. Such tags are NOT to be resorted in numeric order within the group but, rather, should retain their entry order.
