    Problem Symptoms:
After deleting a large number of records using, for instance, publish-05 ("Delete ALEPH Published Records"), though the record count has decreased significantly, the space available in the tablespace (as seen in util o/14/1 and o/14/8) has not changed.

    Cause:
Though the records were deleted, the space they occupied was not recovered. (Certainly the datafiles which constitute the tablespace are occupying just as much space as before.) It appears that, as new records are added, rather than taking new space, they occupy the space vacated by the old records.

    Resolution:
Monitor the tablespace %used to confirm that new records are using the existing (vacated) space rather than taking new space.
