    Description:
Are we allowed to use special characters (non-alphanumeric characters), such as (),;:+#%..., for the indicator and subfield code? If yes, which characters are allowed.

    Resolution:
[From Elke Zahrte, Ex Libris Germany:]

In Aleph, we orientate on MAB and Unimarc and MARC indicators and subfields which includes only numeric characters and letters (these are differentiated in small letters and capital letters).

Special characters are not included in these formats and I think they should not be used. We didn't get an overview from development which characters are allowed for indicators and subfields, but you are on the safe side if you use numeric characters and letters.
