    Description

    Sublibrary ABC changes to sublibrary XYZ at checkout.

    We've noticed that, at check out, the sub library of an item is changed from ABC to XYZ . Consequently, when we view the loan receipt form, it displays XYZ in the sublibrary field and in the return address, not the ABC return address, because the sublibrary is now XYZ not ABC . Why is this happening? We do not want the sublibrary to change at checkout.

    Also, when we check the item back in, the sublibrary status does not revert to ABC , but stays XYZ . The only way to fix this is to go into the Cataloging GUI and do it manually. Further, when we change the sublibrary back to ABC, it still displays as XYZ in the Catologing GUI, but in the Circ. GUI and the Web OPAC it displays correctly as ABC .

    Resolution

    This was occurring because the user's station ID / IP address was specified in a column 2, type "4", line in $data_tab/tab_attr_sub_library. The tab_attr_sub_library header says:

    Type 4 - reading room loan handling
    Use type 4 to define a Reading Room workstation. It is important to note that when there is a Reading Room sublibrary defined for an Station ID/IP address it means that all the loan transactions performed at this Station ID/IP address will be treated as Reading Room loans.

    This means that the item's sublibrary will change to the Reading Room and will remain as such as long as the item is on loan. When the item is returned, the item's sublibrary will change back according to the item's original sublibrary (Z30_SUB_LIBRARY). When a Station ID/IP station serves a regular sublibrary (that is, not a Reading Room sublibrary), type 4 should be left empty.

    <end tab_attr_sub_library header excerpt>

    It could also occur if a wildcard line (*) line being used for this user has a non-blank type "4" line.
