    Suppressing Second Call No (z30_call_no_2) from OPAC display

    Description:
    We attempted to follow the instructions provided in CRM Issue 38823 (formerly PRB 12439) on our test server, and we are not able to affect the display of the second call number. I'm sure I've done something wrong (especially since I'm new to the system), but I'm not sure how to correct it.

    Example record: On our test server perform a basic search for "Da Vince Code a Novel". The search result brief view should show a single entry for the Dan Brown novel, with multiple library locations for the holdings brief display. The two consecutive listings in this list that have a status of "In process-Cataloging" represent one of the holding items with two call numbers, both displaying in the OPAC (doc_number 003159183, item_sequence 60). If the 2nd Call No. data were being suppressed, the second line of this pair shouldn't be displaying (the Dewey Decimal Number line).
    Our process to date: following the instructions provided in PRB 12439, we
    (1) created a new call number type value of 9, labeled "Old Dewey Call Number" in the GUI.
    (2) edited our abc01/tab/tab11_acc file to include a heading index for this new PST9 value.
    (2) edited the specific holding item cited above so that its "2nd call no. type/call no." field had a value of 9 (instead of its previous value of 1). We also reindexed this document to make sure that the new value was indexed properly (and it was)
    (3) edited our abc01/tab/www_tab_short.eng file to attempt to suppress display of records where subfield n had a value of 9. We tried three variations of this, and each time restarted the www_server, but without the expected results:

    Question: Are we missing a step or editing the www_tab_short.eng file incorrectly? Is there another file we should be editing to finalize the suppression of the display? (We attempted a similar "n -9" technique on the edit_doc_999.eng file, with similarly unsuccessful results.)

    Resolution:
    A proposal to change the PST expand to ignore the z30_call_no_2 was rejected.

    No other solution has been found.
