System trying to create second ADM for Course Reserve record

    • Article Type: General

    Description:
When you search the course reading database in the GUI OPAC, go to the Nav Map, and push records that are xxx01-linked (i.e. not created in xxx30) to either Circulation or Items, you get a "Confirmation" message that states, "BIB Document has ITM Link. Create ADM anyway?" This appears as though it is trying to create another ADM record, which could be very problematic. The same thing happens when you search IOW30 in Circulation or Items "mini-find" and try to bring up a record that is linked to xxx01. What can be done to prevent this from happening?

    Resolution:
When an xxx30 Course Reserve document is linked to an xxx01 BIB record, it is connected to its items *only* through the BIB record. (In z103 terms, there is an ITM link only; no ADM link.) So, when you are in the xxx30 record and try to call up its items, it finds that this xxx30 has no ADM record. To get the items in the GUI, you need to switch to the BIB library/BIB record and load the items from there. (In the case where the xxx30 doc is *not* linked to a bib, then it *does* have a direct ADM link and you can call up the items directly.) The idea is that you would do this work with items in the Web Course Reserve function -- where you can, of course, go directly to the items for the xxx30 doc.
