    Description:
When I enter the "exit" command on the unix command line I get the response "There are suspended jobs", and my session is still active.

    Resolution:
The "jobs" command should show you any suspended jobs.

If you enter "exit" a second time, it should cancel the suspended jobs and let you exit.
