Title request allowed on available item -- despite Z305_HOLD_ON_SHELF = N

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
In ABC50 we have tab15.eng, col. 8, set to "Y" (allow holds; but allow them on available items only if the Local Patron "Allow hold on available item" privilege is set to Y).

The system allowed patron ABC500010 to place a hold on item 007556519-20 despite the fact that patron ABC500010 has "Allow hold on available item" (Z305_HOLD_ON_SHELF) set to N.

    Resolution:
I note (in the z37h) that the hold placed by patron ABC500010 on item 007556519-20 was a title hold:
    z37h_request_type ..............T

Looking at the sys50 tab_hold_request, I find that there are no TITLE-REQ (or HL-GRP) lines. It seems to me that there *should* be.

Please create TITLE-REQ entries with the check_hold_request checks that you want to be in effect.

    From the tab_hold_request header:
    ! g : z305 hold-on-shelf (item availability)

Please be sure that this line is included:
    TITLE-REQ check_hold_request_g

Then restart the pc_server and test.

If you find that the problem still exists, then please add the same check_hold_request checks under the HL-GRP label. (It's unclear to me just when HL-GRP is referenced vs. TITLE-REQ; please start with the checks under just TITLE-REQ.)

    [From site:]
    Adding this line:
    TITLE-REQ check_hold_request_g
    corrected the problem.
