    Description:
The PLIF documentation updated January 11, 2007, says that USER-REC-HOME-LIB is Mandatory. However, the Patron section of the Circulation functional documentation for Version 18 says this field is optional (as it is in V15.5): "Home Library (Optional): this is the library with which the patron is commonly identified. This is the default pickup sublibrary for hold requests."

    Resolution:
The USER-REC-HOME-LIB is loaded into the z303_home_library. The z303_home_library is used in the system primarily in connection with pick-up locations (such as the z37_pickup_location). It can determine what sublibrary is first in a list of pickup location sublibraries and may serve as a default in some cases.

But there is really no change in version 17/18 vs. version 15.5 in this regard: If pick-up locations were working OK in version 15.5 without a z303_home_library, they should also work OK in version 17/18.
