    Description:
We are unable to connect to our v18 trainlms Web OPAC. Doing util w/3/1 to restart the www_server has no effect: nothing is written to the $LOGDIR directory and the server is not restarted.

If you scroll back in the info written to the screen following the util w/3/1, you see a message about '>" Event not found .

    Resolution:
I tried to stop apache with the /usr/local/bin/stopApache command, but it did not work.

The httpd.pid file was missing. After recreating the the pid file, apache was stopped.

Aleph was restarted and then apache. This seemed to fix the problem.
