Unable to log into the Aleph OPAC ("requested file was not found ...")

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
    * Unable to access the OPAC, either as "Guest" or with a specific log-in.

    * The following response is given:

The requested file was not found on the server.
Please contact the library administration and
    inform them about this problem

    * The www_server log has the following line:

    Info: Empty table /exlibris/aleph/a20_1/usm01/www_f_eng/find-b

    Cause:
The base for the "Guest" user is usually determined by the z61_base value of the ALEPH z61 profile record.

    The $usr_library ALEPH z61 has:

    02 z61_base .....................USM01

For complete discussion of this issue, see KB 5890 ("OPAC user gets wrong base").

    Resolution:
In the GUI Circulation client click on the "Patrons" tab at the top, then "Patron profile", and select the "ALEPH" Profile.

    * Change the z61_base ("Base Name") in the ALEPH profile to the correct local xxx01 OPAC base -- as specified in $alephe_tab/tab_base.lng.
    * If the z61_user_library ("User Library") in the ALEPH profile is not blank, change it to blank. {The need for the blank ALEPH z61_user_library is discussed in KB 8192-4407 ("Can't Update ALEPH Profile").}
