    Undeleting bib record?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
Is there a way to "undelete" a bib. record? We have some "orphaned" item records and at least one order record which cannot be retrieved because the Bib has been deleted.

Is there a way to remove the DEL or change it to N? Would that restore the link to the bib record?

The order record thinks it is attached to this bib (from the I see in Util F/4 for the z68). The Util F/12 does not show any links, however..

I have a script that lets me delete the items via SQL, but now wonder if the bib could be somehow restored instead.

    Resolution:
There is no ALEPH utility for doing this.

(There is an optional Z00H table to which updated records are written if the tab100 CREATE-Z00H option is set to "Y". It's possible that this could be used to do a restore. There is no ALEPH utility for doing this, but it does seem that a specific Z00 record could be overwritten with its Z00H, called up, and then resent to the server to generate appropriate links.)

See also KB 16384-42497 which describes the Z00T record, new in version 20, which is intended for tracking doc record changes.
