    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
When we try to connect to the server, we see this:

    Execute master cshrc
    REQUEST_STARTUP_LIBS: Undefined variable.

If we then try to dlib to any library, we get:

    dlib: Command not found.

    Resolution:
The messages "undefined variable" when connecting to the server appear because the aleph_startup has failed to find a required variable (in aleph_start).

This can happen when you accidentally delete or comment out a required variable (such as, in this case, REQUEST_STARTUP_LIBS).

The startup will then fail to complete and other commands, such as, dlib will not work.

If the error occurs as part of Upgrade Express, consider whether the ORACLE_SID variable is set correctly (in aleph_start). It may, for instance, be "aleph20" when it should be "aleph21".
