Updating Patron barcodes (type 01) with PLIF

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
In past versions of ALEPH, when a library wanted to change their patron PINs for the type 01 Z308 ID in batch, we would first run a PLIF with 'fake' barcodes using "I01". Then we would run the same PLIF again, but with the correct barcodes, again using "I01" in the insert Z308 section. The second run would overlay the 'fake' barcodes with the correct barcodes and the new PINs. In version 20, this does not happen. Now, whether you use "A01" or "I01" it appears to simply add the false barcode as an additional barcode. Was this meant to be changed? Or is this simply a bug with Version 20?

We have a library which is requesting a batch change of PIN numbers.

    Resolution:
Looking on your server, I find that in the cases where the patron has more than one z308 type '01', one of them has a z308_status of "NA" (Not Active).

[From site:] "It looks like it was something I was doing wrong, because I was getting it to work as desired on small test records this afternoon. Not sure what I was doing before, but it appears as though it is working correctly. I'll take a look and make sure no extra barcodes with status NA are attached. That might have been throwing it off."
