    Upgrade Express: z69: "undo tablespace" and "variable not in select list"

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
    After running the Upgrade Express 20-21, we find that when we do util f/4 for the z69 table in version 21 we get the error:

    Oracle error: fetch z69
    ORA-01007: variable not in select list

    Checking the ./upgrade_express_2001_2101 logs, I find that the 1020 step (which is supposed to add the

    z69_upd_time_stamp and
    z69_client_address_v6

    columns to the z69 table) got the following error:

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS1'

    Resolution:
    This undo tablespace space problem is discussed in articles "unable to extend segment by 1024 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTS" and  "How big should UNDOTBS1 be?"

    util o/13/1 showed that UNDOTBS1 had one 6-gigabyte datafile. I used util o/13/3 to add second (4000 Meg / 4-gigabyte) datafile. After which, a re-run of Upgrade Express step 1020 was successful.

    {In the longer-term, you should consider processing the older z69 records to produce OPAC statistics (with ARC or your own SQL), and then deleting them.}
