Upgrade Express data pump: "snapshot too old"

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
While doing the exporting step using the Oracle Data Pump, we encountered some Oracle errors in the logs:
ORA-31693: Table data object "xxx50"."Z00P" failed to load/unload and is being skipped due to error:
    ORA-02354: error in exporting/importing data
ORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number with name "" too small
    ORA-22924: snapshot too old

    Resolution:
[Note: At all but the smallest site, running publish-04 on the target instance is faster than exporting/importing the z00p.  See article "Upgrade Express: exported z00p takes 11 hours -- and 50 times the space".]
The article "ORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment" discusses this error.  As suggested there, you could try running the export at a time when the z00p is not being updated. Article "Aleph Z00P records not Written when xxx01 Records updated" talks about sources of z00p updates.
If these don't help, you could increase the undo tablespace size ... or just ignore the error and re-run p_publish_04 to recreate the z00p once you are on the new version.
