    Question

    * Is a block date created automatically by the system in the individual patron record and then removed at the end of the block period automatically?

    Answer

    * When a patron returns one or more items late the Local Block Date is automatically updated by the system according with the fine method set in .xxx50/tab/tab16
    * If col. 14 is set to value 5 the patron is blocked from borrowing items or renewing loans for a period equal to the highest number of days an item was overdue
    * if col.14 is set to value 6 the patron who returns two or more items late is blocked for a period equal to the sum of the number of days each item was overdue.
    * When the block date is passed the date is not reset or removed automatically by the system but it becomes irrelevant (since it is a date in the past)
