    Question

What should a valid Aleph license look like? What lines should it contain?

    Answer

An Aleph license should have the following lines (e.g.):

    JJYUUK996D
    D8JM5VE20K
    KSLO8787ND
    8T4VN41UCO
    LOP06TN934
    ALEPH-VERSION 22
    MAX-WEB-USERS 999
    MAX-GUI-USERS 999
    MAX-Z39-USERS 999
    MAX-NO-LIBS 999
    MAX-DOC-NUMBER 9999999
    MAX-WWW-X-USERS 999
    ISSUE-DATE YYYYMM
    EXPIRATION-DATE YYYYMM
    MAX-SLNP-SERVERS 999
    MAX-SC-SERVERS 999
    MAX-OCLC-SERVERS 999
    MAX-NCIP-SERVERS 999
    IP-ADDRESS 111.222.333.444
    IP-ADDRESS 111.222.333.555
    GUI-ALL Y

Note: The first five lines are unique checksums per license.

There can be up to nine IP addresses in an Aleph license.

For a full description of each variable within the license, refer to Additional Info section below.

The license.www_x looks as follows (e.g.):
    JJYUUK996D
    D8JM5VE20K
    KSLO8787ND
    8T4VN41UCO
    LOP06TN934
    ALEPH-VERSION 22
    ISSUE-DATE YYYYMM
    EXPIRATION-DATE YYYYMM
    IP-ADDRESS 111.222.333.444
    IP-ADDRESS 111.222.333.555
    ALL-SERVICES Y

Again, five checksum lines appear at the top of the x-license.
These checksums are different from the checksums in the Aleph license, and are unique to each license.
In an x-license, up to 20 IP addresses can be included.
For a full description of each variable within the license, refer to Additional Info section below.

NOTE - customers who have upgraded from v19 Aleph or lower:
In v19 and lower there was an additional "license.www_x.SERVICES".
In v20 and higher the "ALL_SERVICES" variable in the x-license covers all license.www_x functions, including ILL.
Only license and license_www.x are relevant.

    Additional Information

See Article 000044923 (How to Apply a New Server License) for complete instructions on applying a new Aleph license to the server.

See the attached document for a full description of all possible fields in an Aleph license and in a license.www_x.
